We are happy to announce that beginning on Maundy Thursday, April 14, we will return to offering wine and wafers at Holy Eucharist. As you know, since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic we have been through a period in which we were unable to offer Holy Eucharist at all and for about the last 7 months have offered a modified form of Holy Eucharist with just the wafer.
As we return to the practice of sharing Holy Eucharist in both forms, we will be limited to sipping wine from the chalice. This practice is sometimes called using a common cup. We will not be dipping the wafers into the wine (called intinction) and we will not use individual communion cups. This continues to be a “all may, some will, none must” circumstance in the life of our church. Everyone will be welcome to receive Holy Eucharist in both forms. Some of you will be ready to do so, but none of you must. The Eucharist continues to be fully received in one-kind only (just the wafer). Worship continues to be meaningful and fulfilling if you refrain from the Eucharist.
Pastor Ruth invites you to join her for a conversation on Zoom at 7:30pm on Thursday, April 7th to ask questions and hear from one another about these changes. We will use our usual Zoom codes for worship and be sure to wrap up by 8:20 so that you can have a break before Compline at 8:30 pm.
