MAUNDY THURSDAY
On Maundy Thursday at 6pm, we commemorated the last meal Jesus had with his disciples by enjoying a simple meal together in the church hall. Theresa Lum made a Portuguese Kale and Bean soup that was so delicious people went back for seconds and thirds! Thank you to Theresa and her sous chefs, Pat and Hiro Numata. Others from our church arrived before the meal and set up tables, cut up cheese and bread and set them out along with hummus and fruit. It was lovey to be joined by a few parishioners from St. Timothy church—familiar faces from other joint events we have had on Zoom or in person. About twenty people attended the meal. At 7pm, we had a joint service in the sanctuary led by Pastor Ruth and Pastor James Duckett that included foot washing and the stripping of the altar. For the first time in a long while, we had wafers and wine for communion. What a joy to share the common cup and remember the night Jesus showed the full extent of his love by washing the disciples feet and breaking bread with them for the last time before his death.
GOOD FRIDAY
Our worship on Good Friday was Stations of the Cross, held at St Timothy in Brentwood at 10am. This joint worship invited us to use our senses as we walked with Jesus to the cross and the tomb.
EASTER SUNDAY
Thank you to the team who helped prepare the altar and worship space for Easter Sunday. We had a wonderful Easter Service this year, with a combined in-person and Zoom attendance of 70! It was wonderful to be gathered together to celebrate the Resurrection and renew our baptismal vows together.
