You are invited to attend the Annual Vestry Meeting at St Stephen the Martyr Anglican Church (9887 Cameron Street) on February 16, 2025 at 11:45 AM (Following Worship). This meeting is an in-person event. Please contact the Parish Office by Sunday, February 12 if you need to be on Zoom rather than in-person and we will make that option available.

We are aiming to be finished by 1:00 PM, but predicting Vestry Meetings can be a challenge.

Written reports are available via the Parish Office.

WHAT IS A VESTRY MEETING?      It is a meeting of all members of an Anglican Parish to make decisions regarding the life and ministry of the Parish. The Vestry elects a Parish Council who handle most of the parish’s business during the year. There must be one Vestry Meeting a year but may be more.

WHO CAN ATTEND?    Anyone!

WHO CAN VOTE?      All baptized persons, aged 15 or older, who are “accustomed worshippers” and have been on the Parish List since November 17, 2024. Being on the Parish List means that you have identified yourself to the Parish Office as intending St Stephen’s to be your church. You can only be on the Parish List of one Anglican Parish at a time. Please see Pastor Ruth if you are unsure if you are eligible to vote.

WHAT ARE WE GOING TO TALK ABOUT?      At Vestry we will

  • Acknowledge and thank leaders for their work in 2024.
  • Address the Parish’s financial situation and pass a budget for 2025.
  • Talk about our plans for 2025
  • Vote for members of the Parish to serve on Parish Council and to attend Diocesan Synod on our behalf should one be called. Synod is like a Vestry for the whole Diocese, a regional grouping of Anglican Parishes that in our case runs from Powell River to the US border and from the Sunshine Coast to Hope. The next scheduled Synod is in May of 2025.
