Over the past several weeks we have been busy with stories from the Book of the Acts of the Apostles about Peter and Paul's travels after the Resurrection.
On Mother’s Day we were busy making cards with our handprints in paint and decorating them to look like flowers. Sparkles and stickers are always a hit with our crafts.
The following week we made windmills to symbolize catching the wind of the Holy Spirit. We talked about not being able to see the wind but seeing how the wind affects things like windmills and kites. Our story had been about Peter learning that the Holy Spirit is not something we control but that God had sent the gift of the Spirit to all peoples. Peter learned that the rules he had followed as a Jewish person were changing in light of Jesus' resurrection.
We are looking forward to some special Sundays in the month of June. Pastor Ruth is planning a two-part teaching Eucharist service for June 19 and 26, which our school-age children will participate in. On June 19, after joining in the first part of the service (the Ministry of the Word), the Sunday-school will have our annual fun-day. This is the first time since 2019 that we have been able to do this, but we still know how to have fun! We will play a couple of games and then have a light lunch. If you could help prepare the lunch, please let us know. On July 3rd there will be no planned Sunday-school because of the memorial planned for Edward Kind. Quiet activity options will be provided in the Fellowship Room for any children in attendance.
For the remaining Sundays in July and August we are looking for volunteers who might be able to read the children a story and/or do a craft or play a game with them. We do have curriculum materials available for you to use if you are willing to take on a Sunday, but you are also very welcome to come up with a plan of your own. Cooking? Drama? The only limit is your imagination (and safety, of course)!
