While Provincial Public Health Orders limit our ability to gather in-person for worship, we continue to worship via Zoom. Our Zoom service is at 10am on Sunday mornings (look under Events for the link).
We realize that joining a group on Zoom for the first time might be a little intimidating, but we hope you'll find us welcoming, friendly, and not too overwhelming!
Our Zoom hosts start letting folks in about 9:50. If you're new, someone is likely to ask your name and welcome you -- that's especially true if you phone in. We try to keep everything we do accessible to folks who phone in to our Zoom meeting as we have several who prefer that method. While we love seeing everyone's face on Zoom, we don't require cameras and you're welcome to keep yours off. When we start the worship time, we invite you to mute.
We use a form of Morning Prayer to guide our time together. It includes reading from Scripture, a reflection, and music provided from within the sanctuary. It also includes a time of prayer for the world, our community, and others. You're welcome to say the responses along with us and to sing as loudly as you like -- while you're on mute. The one time we all like to unmute is to say togehter the Lord's Prayer (sometimes known as the Our Father). A copy of the words we say and the order we say them in is up on the events page. It usually gets changed over on Thursday afternoon or evening.
We love having children and youth participate in our worship time. When we gather in-person, we have a great team that helps our young people explore Scripture themes in age-appropriate ways during a portion of our worship. On Zoom, we know we aren't capturing our young people as well as we might, but we're always thrilled to see them. Our Sunday School coordinator has a regular email list she sends ideas for home-based practices and our youth are active in a regional group, IgnYte.
At the end of our worship time, a few folks like to stick around to chat with one another. These open times are a great way to "meet" other members of the congregation. But they aren't required and you can leave the meeting with a quick wave or "good-bye" in the chat window.
We miss gathering together in-person and are anxiously awaiting the time when we can return to some forms of in-person worship. But we've gotten pretty good with handling the technology and have really enjoyed some elements of our Zoom-worship. We hope you'll consider joining us if you are looking for a community of faith to participate with during these challenging times.
